Sale of Europlan Engineering to Folmer Equity Fund II

Europlan Engineering Oy, founded in 1990, is a leading Finnish marine technology project management company which focuses on delivering challenging turnkey solutions for interior outfitting to both domestic and international clients. Europlan provides solutions for global cruise ships, superyachts and construction industry, comprising all interior design services, including consulting, engineering, design, planning, implementation and production of new builds, conversions, and repairs.

The estimated revenue of the company for the current fiscal year is 55 M€, order backlog over 200 M€, and the company employs 65 persons. Carner advised the owners throughout the process. Having identified the best possible compatibility with the client’s strategy, Carner acted as a negotiator between the two parties and successfully completed the transaction.

Our main value creation components were:

  • Executing a global buyer search
  • Deal structuring; Hermann’s Finland Oy, an Europlan Engineering group company specialized in demanding interior solutions, became a fully owned subsidiary of the company as part of the transaction
  • Reconciling EBITDA at project-level
  • Presenting the order backlog in accordance to the above

Both the current owner and CEO of Europlan Engineering Oy, Jari Savola, and the current owner of Hermann’s Finland Oy, Heikki Nieminen, will continue at the company’s service. Savola will also remain as CEO and a significant owner with a share of 40%.
