Carner advises Mirka (KWH Group) in the acquisition of URMA Rolls

Mirka has for the last 10 years systematically invested in developing the portfolio, first with leading micro grit coated abrasives development in the main factory in Finland. In 2017 Mirka acquired Italian Superabrasives company Cafro S.p.A, which is now fully integrated into the Mirka Group and a corner stone of the Mirka Precision Industry offering.

URMA Rolls s.r.l., based in Turin, Italy, is a leading manufacturer of diamond dressing rolls and CBN wheels. Diamond dressing rolls are typically used in precision grinding operations to dress and guarantee the geometry of the grinding wheel. URMA Rolls have over the last 30 years developed a unique manufacturing process to ensure extreme tolerances on rolls down to a micron meter. Typical applications are e.g. manufacturing of bearings, precision parts, engine parts and aerospace components.

“As we welcome URMA Rolls into the Mirka group, we are really excited about the new opportunities we can create together”, says Mirka’s Chief Executive Officer Stefan Sjöberg. “There is an excellent match between URMA Rolls’ and Cafro’s specialized knowledge and manufacturing capabilities, and Mirka’s global market presence. We are also currently working on expanding the portfolio into conventional ceramic grinding wheels to complete the portfolio.”

Carner Corporate Finance advised Mirka throughout the acquisition process.
